Now that you either have an in depth understanding or a shallow understanding of what The Astral is and what it does you have some choices to make that will direct which words you start with as a caster. These will need to be relayed to the system after character creation and will be how you cast from now on.

Institute

In order to become a Psionicist, you must have training with the Institute of Contemplation.

Step One –

Choose one of the following Schools of Training that has been the mainstay of your upbringing in the Institute.

Universal – 
Dealing with the fundamental principles of the Astral realm and the basic methods of one psionic aura mingling with another. If you choose to have trained with the Universal you gain the following words –

Description:
Through attuning their body and their mind together in perfect harmony, those who follow the Universal way learn how to take a single, forceful step through the Astral and use it to pass physical barriers in the physical world. At this level, but a single step is possible, but through means of this magic no mundane barrier or bond can serve to impede the psionicist.
Effect:
The Psionicist can take one pace regardless of barriers. If they would rematerialise inside physical matter they immediately take 3 Hits and are ejected back the way they came.

Description:
If a Psionicist has studied the aura of an individual previously, they may use their knowledge of that unique signature in order to send communication regardless of distance or impediment. Touching mind to mind requires the consent of the mind to be touched, but in an instant they may have a brief conversation.
Effect: 30 seconds of communication is possible – usually by means of a walkie talkie.

Corporeal – 
Dealing with the personal mastery over the minds control over the body that it perceives from and the enhancement of the physical aspects of said body. If you choose to have trained with the Corporeal you gain the following words:

Name: Encouragement to Rest

Description:
By focusing their power into another individual, the Psionicist is able to render them sluggish and fatigued. This is usually coupled with a spoken encouragement to ‘sleep’, and if the individual is in a comfortable state it is likely they will heed the command. Even without that, though, they are likely to be rendered at least momentarily weakened.
Effect:
The Psionicist’s target will be rendered more sluggish, and may fall asleep if they are particularly weak-willed or comfortable.

Name: Mind Over Matter

Word: Vigorousness
Description:
By taking time to empower their physical body with Astral energies, the psionicist may greatly enhance their capabilities for one brief moment. This can be enough to leap a great distance, to bend a steel bar, or to punch a hole through brickwork. This momentary feat of greatness takes a great toll on the body however, and the individual usually requires at least a few moments to recover before they are back to normal.
Effect: One such feat is possible, however the individual will be sluggish for 10 seconds after it is done and unable to spend Tactical Points for 30 seconds.

Perception – 
Dealing with what many would call the power of the Supernatural Senses, such as sixth sense and extended them out beyond the physical body. If you choose to have trained with the Perception you gain the following words

By attuning themselves to the flow of astral energies, those who follow the Perceptive way are far more sensitive to the flow and flux of Astral forces than others. By focusing their power into their eyes and entering a brief trance they are able to detect any Psionic energies and their relative powers.
Effect: The Psionicist will be aware of the presence of any psionic energies and be given an exact numerical value for them.

Description:
When travelling in the Astral it is often useful to be able to look beyond the barriers that make up the place without moving beyond them, lest one accidentally stir the approach of the White. By focusing one’s power and lightly touching an Astral Barrier it may be rendered translucent to allow the astral traveller to look beyond.
Effect: The Psionicist will receive a description of the area beyond a barrier, or be allowed to peek behind such curtains

Conception-
Dealing with the bolstering of the protections of one’s psyche and the extrapolation of the potential for harnessing mental powers. If you choose to have trained with the Conception you gain the following words

By bringing the power of the psionicist’s mind to bear and infusing a material weapon with it, the Institute has learned how to craft weapons that are able to damage thought constructs or beings of the White which have made their way into physical reality. This training is a core aspect of one’s Conceptual training, blending mind and matter in the most literal of senses.
Effect: The Psionicist imbues a weapon to call ‘Psionic’ 3 times before it must be recharged.

Name: Memory Crystal

Word: Binding
Description:
By projecting one’s consciousness into a crystal it is possible to imprint such gemstones with a memory. Larger crystals can contain longer memories, but the average gemstone can hold approximately 1 hour of experience. These crystals must be ‘read’ by a psionicist with the same training, and are commonly used to pass on lessons within the Institute amongst its higher ranking Psionicists.
Effect: The Psionicist can create or read memory crystals which function as above.
