Welcome to the Rising of Chaos, Cthonian Inspired LARP

This event will run across the weekend of Friday the 29th of October and end on Sunday the 31st of October.

  • Join us in the sleepy village of Plaitford at the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire. 
  • The year is 1970 and a quiet project to convert an old school into a Village Hall has unearthed historical artefacts of archaeological interest.
  • A grand opening of the hall, envisaged as a local Disco and council affair has become married to a few days of talks by professors and doctors of various academic specialities.
  • Plaitford is about to become….slightly popular.

This event will have limited player space and opening ticket sales will begin with only 10 spaces.

What and how can we play?

Attendees at the event will fall into the following categories, all you need to do is pick one and communicate your character concepts to us. We will develop your background and profession and provide you with pre-game material and on event knowledge for the game in general. There will be no in game rules as such for this LARP only rules of conduct and safety.

Local

  • You are playing someone local from Plaitford, Hampshire.
  • You can be a local come for the dance or someone with a keen for local history.
  • Maybe you are reporting for the local rag or perhaps you play for Plaitford FC and have come as a guest of honour.
  • Have a read online about the local area and send us your ideas
  • Restricted: Council Members or People involved in organising the weekend activities:
  • Perks – Local Knowledge – May draw on the pool of local knowledge “handouts” during the game.
  • Game Influence – Your game influence comes from specifically prepared information and handouts that affect your game depending on what kind of character you are playing.

Professional

  • You are playing an academic or individual hired for the celebration.
  • You have been invited by the local council, hired by the hall or perhaps you are there to tout your skills.
  • You can be a historian, an archivist, a musician or perhaps a clown to entertain the children!
  • Have a gander at the marvels of the internet for period styles of education or entertainment.
  • Restricted – Really famous types in this field – People that attend this will be either young upcomers, washed up has-beens or middle of the road nobodies!
  • Perks – Insider information – You may draw on several knowledge “handouts” during the game.
  • Game Influence – Your game influence comes from specifically prepared information and handouts that affect your game depending on what kind of character you are playing.

Interested Party

  • You are playing someone from out of town that has heard about the event from a media source or similar and have reason to attend.
  • You have mild academic interest in bronze age works, a washed up entertainer from your youth that you follow avidly is attending or perhaps you are originally from Plaitford and you hope to see your childhood sweetheart.
  • The doors are open for you to be whatever you want to be: Traveling salesman, publican, solicitor or zookeeper for example
  • Restricted – Famous people or people in extreme positions of power. Perhaps a small business owner for example but not Lord Sainsbury.
  • Perks – Outside Influence – You have access to the specific knowledge handouts or, if you are lucky, a phoneable agency that can assist you with help.
  • Game Influence – Your game influence comes from specifically prepared information and handouts that affect your game depending on what kind of character you are playing.

Mysterious Stranger

  • You are playing someone that has stumbled across the Hall and purchased a ticket on the gate, your reasons for attending are your own.
  • Your reasons for being there are your own: Perhaps your car broke down, maybe you are on the lam, you may just be a hitchhiker looking for a rest.
  • Whoever and whatever you are you will need to give us a good idea of why you are there and how mysterious you want your character to be!
  • Restricted – Anyone famous, including terrible murderers et al or people in extreme positions of power.
  • Perks – Unknown Purpose – Nothing happens out of chance – You have access to the Unknown Purpose handouts and such for the game.
  • Game Influence – Your game influence comes from specifically prepared information and handouts that affect your game depending on what kind of character you are playing.

How Does Character Creation Work?

  • When you have paid for the event we will e-mail you and we will work through your ideas.
  • We will go through who you are, how you fit into our story and what you will arrive with onevent.
  • Your character creation will be completed by 16th of October.
  • Rather than skills you will have access to influence over the event through various means that will be provided to you:
    • Phonecalls
    • Handouts
    • Props
    • Pre-Game knowledge
    • DPC’s
  • If you want to create an investigator alongside someone else we will need both of you to participate in the process

The Game

  • Players may arrive on Site from 9am Friday Morning and set up tents on the green
  • The system will be using Canvas Bell and Emperor Tents and sleeping space may be acquired at £5 per night for a berth and £20 per night for an entire tent – Subject to availability.
  • Time In will be at midday or thereabouts on Friday with Timeout post midnight
  • Time In on Saturday will be around 11am after breakfast and again Timeout will occur post midnight.
  • Sunday will be a gathering around brunchtime to debrief, discuss where we are whether there will be future Cthulhu (with brunch)
  • Vegan Meals will be provided for:
    • Friday Lunch
    • Friday Dinner
    • Saturday Breakfast

    • Saturday Dinner
    • Sunday Brunch

Costs

  • The Event will cost £100 for the full weekend which includes all meals.
  • Free for Ambulance Crews (2 tickets available)
  • £15 off for Patreons
  • £3.00 off for 1 Shining Star 
  • £10 off for Bronze Stars 
  • £15 off for Silver Stars
  • £20 off for Platinum and Gold Stars 
  • £50 for One Free day and Event for Platinum and Gold Stars
