Good Morning Wonderfolk of the World,

The first week of March rolls to an end and we find ourselves hoping that this Monday Message finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you had the best week that you could wherever you were and whatever you were doing. As ever we have had a busy week with some exciting developments sitewise and a lot of furthering on the Backlash and story front.

However! Before we get into everything else we would also like to say that the frontline emergency services remain as ever in our thoughts as do so many others and one day we hope to extend this offer to the likes of teachers and other worthies! We continue to offer free games and priority bookings to our upcoming games – just prod us via e-mails for details and we’ll sort you out.

Alongside that we push our resources into offering limited counselling with some seriously good professional help through the dedication of our own hard work, patreons and the streams that we run. If you think that can help you please get in touch and we will get you on the list as the last of the current spaces are being picked up as we speak.

So! Monday Mornings we have expanded our original message to include all the iterations of the Rising: Focusing on the LARP aspect of Chaos but also rolling in Chicanery for other games and streaming, Community for feeding people and getting them Therapy, Countryside for Land Updates and Creativity for makers, crafters, workshop and socks.

So!

The Rising – Calodemon

In exciting news we have begun proper maintenance of the damaged roads that will allow us access to the site proper and anticipate the ability to use them properly in the coming weeks. However we have secured the use of a plot of land to be maintained and use for a site car park as a temporary measure. Here players will be able to kit up and make the short, 5 minute walk, through the woods to the site and get playing.

On the 19th we will be holding an open day on site: We have had a lot of people asking if they can come and help in the woods and this will be the day. We will be looking at erecting the Parachute Canopy, installing the first Compost Loo, clearing some trees and some Dogs Mercury, Coppicing and a number of other tasks. So if you want to help out this will be the day to do so. 

These events will be added to the appropriate places this week. 

The Rising of Chaos: CODA

Coda peaked with the release of the February works in the form of Character Creation and this week we pushed for the Backlash completion. This has gone really well and once again we find ourselves in the debt of the Mighty Mike who has gone above and beyond with the work that he has thrown into the newest part of the system. Unfortunately these aren’t something that we can publish for you here but you’ll see some in one of the upcoming Codafying Streams.

Stephen has been following the protocols laid down for him by Jon and has been juggling organising events for the end of March. He has also investigated the four new sites of legend and can happily tell us that we WILL be using the systems new land on the last weekend of this month and that a new site near Swindon should be in use for April. Thai week will also see the posting of the first online event of the year so it is all go for us. Finally.

Stephen was really on show last week and dropped in two podcasts. The first of the Codafying Streams was heftily busy over on the Chicanery Channel as we covered the basics of CODA. It was a great prima for the game and came with a lot of questions and comments from the floor. This week Stephen will be back again with special guests and be talking about Omni Decks and Feat Sheets, how they work, what they bring to the game and why we use them.

He also continued to join forces with the most excellent Mark Cordory, with special guest Anthony Gunfield as they talked all things LARP. This week the conversation took them through the concepts of surviving your first event at a larp and how to look after yourself when you are there. The Chicanery peeps then launched the first three episodes as a podcast despite a lot of teething troubles with the first episodes. This week they will be talking about their own first experiences at LARP with some extra special guests.

Finally this week saw the monthly storytelling by the exciting Captain Blood and his Tales from the deck. You can see his first two stories at the following link and the last tales are, as ever, available for our amazing Patreons.

CHICANERY 

The Chicanery calendar is really starting to fill up with different streamers, games and regular slots. You can find info on them over on the Chicanery Facebook Page.

A basic runthrough of the upcoming Chicanery week looks like this:

  • Monday Morning – Chaos Meeting at 9.30 5 if you want to know what we will be getting up to this week
  • Monday Evening – Star Wars by Stephen.
  • Wednesday Morning – Stephen will be Codafying and looking at system related things
  • Thursday Morning – The Rising of Conversation sees Stephen, Mark and guests talk about more New to Larp issues.
  • Thursday Evening – Group up Games Night brings together some players for Diggy Diggy Space hole, some raft and other potential bits and bobs.

Ok – So  that’s the week in a nutshell: It looks like the world may well be a hard place to be in at the moment so with that in mind we will be trying to keep the office manned as much as possible on Discord. If you need people, company, nonsense or an ear please feel free to come and find us.
