Good Morning Wonderfolk of the World,

We’re deep into March and heading for the safe confines of April and as ever we hope that this Monday Message finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you had the best week that you could wherever you were and whatever you were doing. Writing the Message this week is more effort than usual; everyone is exhausted after a build weekend at the new site but we are full of keen and will get to telling you everything shortly.

Before we do that we would also like to say that the frontline emergency services remain as ever in our thoughts as do so many others and one day we hope to extend this offer to the likes of teachers and other worthies! We continue to offer free games and priority bookings to our upcoming games – just prod us via e-mails for details and we’ll sort you out.

Alongside that we push our resources into offering limited counselling with some seriously good professional help through the dedication of our own hard work, patreons and the streams that we run. If you think that can help you please get in touch and we will get you on the list as the last of the current spaces are being picked up as we speak.

So! Monday Mornings we have expanded our original message to include all the iterations of the Rising: Focussing on the LARP aspect of Chaos but also rolling in Chicanery for other games and streaming, Community for feeding people and getting them Therapy, Calodemon for Land Updates and Creativity for makers, crafters, workshop and socks.

If you want MORE of this nonsense or don’t want to read all of this you can catch us every Monday Morning between 8.45 and 10am on Twitch as team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. They will even talk to you too if you ask them questions – That’s here on Monday Mornings.

Regardless: Each of our Rising sections are covered by our various organisers who you can contact and talk to via our Discord Server or just a straightforward e-mail.

So!

The Rising of Calodemon

After a LOT of kerfuffle and hard work we finally led an expedition of folk onto the land over near Winchester for some serious endeavour and bushcraft. Stephen, Kristi, Holly and Gary led a team of ten plus people into the wild and started to clear the land. Together they cleared the Northern edge of the land and completed about a mile of dead hedge. This serves several purposes; marking the territory borders, providing a natural habitat for much of the local wildlife and using a lot of the debris that had fallen across the site.

The area that would be used for car parking was cleared and is usable but requires more work to make it perfect. A path that will take you from the parking and to the camping area was also cleared although again it will take more time to complete it and make it, for example, wheelchair accessible. We need to coppice out some hazel but the campsite is more than adequate for the purposes of the system. Finally. Gary selected and consecrated a sacred area just ahead of the campsite which will be used for meditation and practice. Still lots to do but it was a lot of fun and we don’t think that we have seen the teams this happy since lockdown started.

Huge thanks to the peeps that turned up and helped out we achieved more than we thought we could have but at the same time realised the colossal enormity of the tasks before us! We can’t wait to do it again but first we’ll run an event and when we have some time we’ll let you all know when we can book another build day in.

We had a good week which saw the first and very cool online game: Summit make its way into the world. We were hit by a few issues circling around the croaky voice bug that seems to be hitting all and sundry but we had already set up for having understudies for the roles that were missing and we did just fine. The whole episode will be ready to rock and roll on Youtube in the coming days ahead of any further plot releases and games that we might run! Watch this space.

Next up! The site is open; this morning we will have our meeting and we will discuss the opportunity of having a game either this weekend or next. The parameters of either will be time related as to what we can achieve and how many people that we can have along. This last weekend our tree surgeon was struck with a chest infection, we got a second but they were lain low with Covid which meant that our dangerous trees are still on site, we’re trying to make sure we get them off in the week.

Alongside the usual fun we had an actual episode two of Codafying which saw Stephen talking about the Omnideck with the team and hopefully that was enlightening. It will be available along with episode one on YouTube soon! This week we will be talking about the Backlash Cards and beginning our foray into magic. Tune in, listen, learn and leave comments, we’d love to have you along.

Meanwhile Stephen continued to join forces with the most excellent Mark Cordory, with special guests Beans and Stick as they talked all things LARP. This week the conversation took them through the concepts of kit and starting out at LARP. You can find all things Rising of Conversation by following these links.

This week they will be continuing the talks about costuming and kit and probably will be for a few weeks as they advance through the various genres of larp.

The Chicanery calendar is really starting to fill up with different streamers, games and regular slots. You can find info on them over on the Chicanery Facebook Page.

  • A basic runthrough of the upcoming Chicanery week looks like this:
  • Monday Morning – Chaos Meeting at 8.45  if you want to know what we will be getting up to this week
  • Monday Evening -Pendragon with Stephen.
  • Tuesday Afternoon – Will be Jumpy Gron’s Retro Games and some general gaming in the evening with BigdaddyToot
  • Wednesday Morning – Stephen will be Codafying and looking at system related things and there may be birthday shenanigans in the evening for our main dude.
  • Thursday Morning – The Rising of Conversation sees Stephen, Mark and guests talk about more New to Larp issues.
  • Thursday Evening – Group up Games Night brings together some players for Diggy Diggy Space hole, some raft and other potential bits and bob.
  • Friday Night we are back to Beansies Bed Time Stories

Ok – So  that’s the week in a nutshell: It looks like the world may well be a hard place to be in at the moment so with that in mind we will be trying to keep the office manned as much as possible on Discord. If you need people, company, nonsense or an ear please feel free to come and find us.

You can find us easily enough:

Till the next time we talk: Have a Foxes and Crows week people, we look forward to seeing all of you somewhere in the world whether that be in the woods or on Discord.

Much Love

Take Care of Each Other
