Good Morning Wonderfolk of the World,

Welcome to the Monday Message with February’s end fast approaching! We hope that it finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you had the best week you could wherever you were and whatever you were doing. We appear to have missed a week but that seems more than reasonable considering that we were at the widely publicised wedding of our Rules Chef and one of the CODA Team. It was bootiful! Still we have not been idle and there is lots to tell you…..

But first, before we get into everything else we would also like to say that the frontline emergency services remain as ever in our thoughts as do so many others and one day we hope to extend this offer to the likes of teachers and other worthies! We continue to offer free games and priority bookings to our upcoming games – just prod us via e-mails for details and we’ll sort you out.

Alongside that we push our resources into offering limited counselling with some seriously good professional help through the dedication of our own hard work, patreons and the streams that we run. If you think that can help you please get in touch and we will get you on the list as the last of the current spaces are being picked up as we speak.

So! Monday Mornings we have expanded our original message to include all the iterations of the Rising: Focussing on the LARP aspect of Chaos but also rolling in Chicanery for other games and streaming, Community for feeding people and getting them Therapy, Countryside for Land Updates and Creativity for makers, crafters, workshop and socks.

If you want MORE of this nonsense or don’t want to read all of this you can catch us every Monday Morning between 8.45 and 10am on Twitch as team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. So!

The Rising – Back and forward to the woods continues and we watched some trees fall over in the storm. These are setbacks but regardless of those we are determined to be posting an event up for March that takes place in the woods and coppicing and the like IS taking place. The excitement train has no brakes!

So it’s been a couple of weeks and we have things to tell you! First off, we had a really successful fortnight with our post event approach. The froth evening was really epic with old larpers, new larpers and non-larpers coming together. We even had people from the Chicanery side of things converting to live action BECAUSE of the community vibe and how happy everyone was. 

It has long been a tradition among the CODAfolk to gather, post event, at a pub or to go for a curry if it was a big event. In the case of the latter, happy players would also fill up a tankard with notes to pay for the crew to eat well, which was beautiful. This evening really emulated that feel good factor and the love that everyone has for the game that we play and that, in itself, often bolsters the happiness that we get from running stuff for peeps.

We also put together the first online debrief which will be available for everyone to watch in the coming weeks that sums up what happened post Armistice. It was our first effort at these but should allow players that weren’t there to catch up with what happened afterwards. It wasn’t perfect but we had a lot of good feedback and are making notes for how we might manage follow up for other events. A good and useful experiment that we will be repeating.

Stephen sat down with Mark Cordory along with guests and between them knocked their first podcasts out of the park. They talked about what it is to be new to LARP and how to prepare for that emotionally, mentally and physically. Going alone, with a group, the size of the larp and its style, post larp blues, larp bleed and all sorts of things that you can expect to experience. You can find these at the following links and there will be more from them on Thursday Morning.

That’s a lot of stuff that we have been up to as content for you all but we have also been working behind the scenes on the system and on the next events.

Stick’s team in mechanics development have rejigged the Character Creation Section of the System and you can find all of the updated stuff here:

We are talking new Archetypes, new starting skills and new areas of Daer Akmir to start from alongside a fluff and plot update as we work towards the March events. Also we have revamped the old Caster building section into something a lot more straightforward which we are sure you are all relieved to hear!

Right now we are producing the behind the scenes stuff for the actual events that will be running this year. We know that site issues are slowing us down but we will be aiming for an Online Event, a Freeform AND a Woodland event by the end of March.

Finally this week, as mentioned, Stephen and Mark will once again be running a Podcast on LARP in general as they share the collective experiences of their lives and focus on guidelines to larping but also: Wednesday Morning will showcase the new CODAfying stream in which Stephen and guests will be going through the Lore, Rules and mechanics of the Chronicles of Daer Akmir in a series that will appear on our Youtube Channels when they are complete.
