Good Morning Amazing Folk of the LARPing world!

It is a bright and happy looking Monday Morning as I look out of my window and kick off my weekly message: I hope that it finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you had the best week that you could wherever you were and whatever you were doing. I remain beyond grateful for everyone that is out there everyday across the emergency services, working to keep us safe not just from C19 but from all the other crap that we have to go through. Much love to all of you and the front line folks that are working through that. As ever we are here to offer love, support and help to you and anyone else that needs it.

With that said let’s take a look at last week on RoC…

It seems like I was writing one of these only yesterday, the weeks are flying by and we are accumulating more and more folk in and about the world of Discord, so much so that we are having to appoint new team members to keep up with it all!

The online game finished its first month and we are into the second and final month of the story and it is picking up in a terrifyingly exciting way! The players spent last week defeating corrupted militia and springing an imprisoned guilder from their position as a hostage only to inadvertently cause fear throughout a township and have to deal with the resulting mob. They have allied themselves with a long dead Vormearn and are determined to uncover the ruins of a tomb that belongs to the once powerful Melkarr of the area. There is a lot going on and the less said about the political incidents that they are causing the better. It is still SO much fun and I am continuously impressed with the levels of commitment from the players and the crew.

Behind that the rest of RoC continues to tick into the wider release that is scheduled for the week of the 15th this month. Downtimes are being assessed and the rebuilding continues apace without any hiccoughs, more expansion than anything else. New pages are up and we are looking at artists to provide illustration for the newer stuff – Some peeps are out there providing beautiful art for us even now. The rest of the work remains ongoing and we are even more keen, day by day, to get this content out to you.

In the community the Rafternoons are spankingly excellent and we have made bear island although the fiasco of everyone being unconscious was not the best! I am still the King of Track in Formula De but it was a tough race. Tom provided another excellent session of Rifts which has made me even more keen to run the Cthulhu tonight and by gosh the office has been absolutely packed this week. I especially enjoyed the Crane Cam that was provided to us by Battlin’ Jack Padley, not to mention the excellent art lessons that Kit Brutnell has been providing, he even managed to get some commissions going!

So that was last week and this is what we have lined up next:

Big Core Team Meeting this weekend: We took in some more peeps who have chosen to sacrifice their spare time for the greater good. With them alongside us we can announce the following proposals and plans that will materialise soon:

First event back in the woods

We have no idea when it will be bar post June 21st but we will be building a:

  • This is what this event will be, who would like to be along and what would you like to see in it discussion.
  • We’ll be looking at new player areas, plot areas, socials etc.
  • We have a bunch of sites on standby and we’ll pick one based on numbers.
  • If there is a lot we’ll run the event for 7+ Days and run a drop in and out with overarching like we did at the tenday.

Mark Cordory Afternoons

As a community thing we have agreed with Mark Cordory to run a bunch of “Afternoons With”, where he will be talking about his time working on stuff like Dr Who, Maid Marian and her Merry Men and Knightmare. There will also be sessions dedicated to his long experience Larping and Making Stuff like Eddie for Iron Maiden. These will be ticketed events with money heading to charity and the feeding of people with nothing.

Tales from the Deck

We have our second Tales from the Deck with Gary lined up on the 12th and he now has his very own page with us here. It was a massive success last time so Patreon up and don’t miss out.

Online Games Galore!

At the end of the week we will be announcing the dates for the first one day political event and looking to announce our one off, all player, event. We will also be throwing out the stuff for the OLG that will take over from The Recreant Voice that ends at the end of March. So get your engines started if you want to kick back into the world of RoC and enjoy everything that we have to offer.

Community Gathering Plans

Much like the first event back in the woods: We have been asked (a lot) if there is a big meet up social planned and the answer can be yes! We will be providing an online space for people to get together and discuss a plan but essentially we will be going with this:

Get some peeps together and scoop up a small deposit, depending on how many hire a space for a weekend. Socialise: Board games, rpgs, rambles and picnics, whatever. There has been some tentative e-mails and we may even have some vaguely famous special guests lined up if there are enough peeps.

Keep your peepers peeled peeps!

The team expands and we now have someone (who will announce themselves) organising afternoon games for all the folks that pile into my office and anyone else out there who finds themselves at a loose end during the afternoons. If that’s you and you are not a part of the server you can just click the link below to join us.

To round off the more forthcoming we are now partnering with a group called Exploding Dice who YouTube at board games, miniature painting and the like and will feature some of us unboxing stuff and playing bits and pieces.

The website updates are getting out there at a better pace now and well, I think that is enough for five minutes, I mean there is more but I think that can wait till next week.

Remember if you want to get involved, tell stories, play games, run games or whatever we are continuing to build that community.

As with all things RoC community you can find us here and that goes doubly for anything you need for the LARP or just for company on long locked in days. Equally If you want to join us on Patreon we are here.

As ever folks: If you need us let us know and if we can help in any way we will, whatever you are up against.

In the meantime have a Foxes and Crows week people, we look forward to seeing a whole bunch of you at the online game and bumping into even more of you, online, between now and then.

Take Care of Each Other

Much Love

Stephen and the RoC Core Team x
