Good Morning friends of the Larping World,

It is Monday Morning which means it’s time for this Message! I hope that it finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you had the best week that you could wherever you were and whatever you were doing. The work to keep us safe from Covid continues as does our extended thanks and support for all of the frontline emergency services and staff who are doing all that they can. It’s still difficult, it’s still lonely and we are still, all, here and so are we, always, if you need us for headspace, games or venting.

With that said let’s take a look at last week on RoC…

RoC Online

There was a lapse in the usual workload as I ran out of juice around Tuesday and had to take a couple of days off. Still we managed to run through the usual bits and bobs:

The online game was shepherded at the start of the week by Holly and Tom and they did a sterling job guiding the players into Entas where they finally met with the first wave of scripted DPC’s! So our cast of even more started making an appearance before they ran into the big bad at the weekend finale and managed to drive the possessing abomination from a local journalist before agreeing to raid the militia houses where corruption dwells. We’ll see how that pans out on Wednesday! Super excited for it.

Rebuilds!

Rebuilding of old characters has established a good format already with some interesting growth: Long term injuries to wound cards and the development of old statuses is really exciting to experience in the new system, as is watching these old characters’ stories become even more imprinted in the narrative of the world. You can really see how the lore and myth of RoC has developed through them and as the system head that is pretty amazing.

RoC Rafternoons

The RoC Raft grew in size, growing a fourth floor, a steering wheel AND some engines, the crew now stands at ten if you don’t include the drama llama and Frodo and Bilbo (goat and gobbler). I think the Raft is by far and away one of the best extensions of the community but then again….

RoRPGCs (Are we taking this too far now?)

RoCthulhu is into the second stage of character creation which saw the players wandering the woodlands of Ypres in 1903 and experiencing the Mists of Celtic Woods. The thrill and terror of the mythos was strong and left one of my players dead (yes in character creation) and the rest of the players with a lot to think about before the 1917 kick off year. Will anyone make it through character gen? Can you say Kat Who Loo? 😀

Rising of Board Games!

Equally Sunday saw a new racer make the podium their own in Formula De as the Dan flew out of the last corner to take first place! New boards arrived so we have been going through the first of four new tracks. Zombiecide and Mansions of Madness are also on the cards as the season one of board games goes into its last leg.

So that was last week and this is next:

RoC online picks up again on Wednesday and we will also be Rafternooning every week day between three and five if peeps want to join in. Tonight is part two of Rifts with the Top Tier Tom running us through our bizarre paces and we have the next Formula De on Sunday.

We are throwing out a late night Factorio on Wednesday if peeps are about for RoCworld although that tends to get a bit involved!

Finally just a nod to some upcoming events, definitely for the calendar:

  • Gary will be storytelling again on March the 12th which promises to be a wyld one with some homegrown RoC tales on top of the usual Russian and Norse myths.
  • Mark Cordory will be dropping in on a forthcoming Sunday afternoon to tell tales and answer questions about his time larping and making props for Knightmare and Dr Who. He has promised fun, frolics and giveaways! We’ll stick a date up as soon as we have one.
  • Kit has a DnD homebrew promised for Sundays and is looking for a player or two more to get his campaign started – He has a really good pedigree as a storyteller and is well worth your time.

As with all things RoC community you can find us here and that goes doubly for anything you need for the LARP or just for company on long locked in days. Equally If you want to join us on Patreon we are here.

As ever folks: If you need us let us know and if we can help in any way we will, whatever you are up against.

In the meantime have a Foxes and Crows week people, we look forward to seeing a whole bunch of you at the online game and bumping into even more of you, online, between now and then.

Take Care of Each Other
Much Love

Stephen and the RoC Core Team x
