Hello Wonderfolk of the World,

Welcome to what is now the midweek message and as ever we hope that it finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you have all had the best time that you could whatever you were doing. This is the first message that we are sharing with the world for a while and we will do that once a month rather than once a week.

It’s been a busy, but excellent bunch of weeks, with a flurry of events as we push the envelope trying to make sure that we can keep up with provision of free counselling et al., so as ever – Massive thanks to our volunteers from writers to site maintenance who provide their time to keep games running and income going to provide for peeps that need it.

Much love to our many wonderful Patreons and Twitch Subs who make time for us even when we fall behind and wait happily. There are a whole wrap of folks from the RoC community and beyond who are benefitting, not just from the counselling but from food, legal assistance and all sorts really. We are also happy to be able to offer free games to the frontline emergency services workers out there. Much love folks and many thanks.

Ok – Let’s move onto some updates.

The massive upheaval that we spoke about is still ongoing and we are having a little trouble trying to keep our feet on the ground. Real life work changes, physical and mental health issues and generally the difficulties that the world is throwing out there has cut down the regular office staff from 7 or 8 to 1 who is covering all of the Rising Offices at the moment. We are almost through this but we are thin on the ground or indeed, thin in the air really.

So…

The Monday Morning Meeting will roll out as the new, improved, Sunday Evening Get Together between 7ish and 8ish pm BST on Twitch as all Rising  team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. Feel free to chime in with questions and comments – That’s here on Sunday Evenings. Have your say, ask questions and help us shape the future of what we are doing together.

Regardless: Each of our Rising sections are covered by our various organisers who you can contact and talk to via our Discord Server or just a straightforward e-mail.

The woods are growing; there are more areas of the ‘village’ which have really added to the feel of the site and we will be adding hoistable canvas walls and rooves for immediate village over the winter. We are also in the middle of adding new transport methods to the site, more paths, it’s all go. Plus the main camp just looks amazing now.

We have just run our first big marquis event of the year; the ever glorious Tharinos and what a toppers event it was! We were joined not just by the usual plethora of crew but also one of the fathers of LARP in the shape of Mark Cordory who stamped his own spirit on the ignominious form of The Death of Tharinos.

This Tharinos saw the return of a host of long term players in the game as well as some of the most notable DPC’s down our twenty five year history. The long dead Lord of the Arches; Plaguemantle, returned for the show to be utterly surprised to learn that what so many people had thought to be a prison was instead…. A hospice.

An Angel and a long lost almost God duked it out for control of parts of the Tharinos and indeed the essence of many of the playing crew who started the event dead. But through cunning diplomacy and a well played hand from Death the whole affair ended…. Well it ended although we are not sure who we could say won!

Quinn Shadowreaver, first of the DPC’s and his trusty sidekick; Burt, dropped in at the end to speak of the beginning and that roguish Soul Trader that people only know as the Bastard died. Although not before redeeming a tiny part of his soul and being reborn, well the tiny bit, as a man called Brennan, who also comes with a hot date!

Thrills, Chills and a whole load of stabbin’ just scratch the surface of this wonderful game! All of our love goes out to all who worked so hard to get it to where it needed to be. Our once a year Tharinos. But wait there’s more…!

Celyn may be over but Cadosagh is just about to take the reigns as the dawn of Tharinos ends and the Day begins, lead by the courageous Ingenium Fellastir. Tickets are available and deets for the final part of the 25 years will be up soon. 

This week on CODA:

We will be setting up the booking pages for the games and getting ourselves to the end of the year and we will be hammering out the downtime a little more behind the scenes. We are hopeful that we can manage the debrief as a spoken thing for youtube now that tech is working but the week is very full on.

LARPing up that Hill returns on Thursday this time with a NEW TIME SLOT of 5pm -6pm so if you want some hometime listening come and join Holly, Mark and Stephen for the weekly pod.
