Good Morning Wonderfolk of the World,

We hope that this message finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle as we skip merrily though the days of Spring and keep on looking for the Summer. Here at The Rising of Chaos we have enjoyed a largely productive week attacking workloads, making a nuisance of ourselves on twitch and generally getting ready for the events ahead (Tickets on sale today!!) We’ll move onto the updates of wonder shortly but in the meantime we’ll fulfil a very important weekly tradition.

Huge thanks to the people who serve out there on the frontline emergency services and to the Patreons and Subs who let us offer free tickets to games for those well trained folks that do stuff like drive ambulances and see us through terrible times. We continue to offer 2 priority, free spaces to them on each and every event. Alongside that we offer to anyone at all access to free counselling in our community program which, if you feel you need, please do email or DM us and we’ll get you in asap. 

The two main wings of the Rising continue to develop and both the Chaos and the Chicanery side of things have kept working away in the background getting stuff done and keeping the community ticking over. They have both been over in the woods this weekend doing some building and there are now clearings and paths established in key areas. 

Whilst this message covers the basics we will be on and chatting on Monday Morning between 8.45 and 10am on Twitch as team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. They will even talk to you too if you ask them questions – That’s here on Monday Mornings. Have your say, ask questions and help us shape the future of what we are doing together.

The Calodemon Woods!

This weekend Holly led an expedition of Trews, Gonge and Stephen into the woods to attack bits and pieces to ensure that we can give everyone a better experience when they are there. They started off by taking pickaxes, spades and postholers to the clay road that has been giving us such a hard time and after some hours of labour they then drove the car all the way from the main gate to Calodemon woods and did a park. Next up, the roller!

Not satisfied with their endeavours they set to work clearing five key clearings so that they are much more useable for eventing in and did away with the tree sleeves that were littering the place up. Then they cleared and marked out a whole load of paths so that the clearings were accessible without damaging any of the habitat around it. Holly also made a bouncy swing and had a lot of fun in a fairy nook that she made 🙂 

All in all a really positive day in the woods!

This week Holly has been working us hard at all manner of things LARP related as we covered week one between events and lots and lots was established: 

First off Holly wanted a new format for the between game debrief dissemination which happened, pretty much, straight away. The decision was to go for a youtube debrief to the event which you can find in the Codafying channels over on Discord. This went down really well and will be the prescribed way that we handle debriefs from now on!

We also covered a whole load of prep for the following next weekend – The Lost One is sold out, like immediately sold out although we can probably squeeze in one more crew. The event and all of its feats sheets are ripped and ready to go; kit packing will take place on Monday and the site will be set up on Friday ahead of the game. If you are crewing the event there will be an announced pre-brief in the week via Discord.

The next, next event for the end of May is up and tickets go live for that event Sunday the 8th at around 17.00. This will be a standalone and is aimed at new players and characters  coming into the game – So if that’s you? Come and get along. If you are an existing and established character? You too are welcome 😉 It just doesn’t follow a current plot arc…

Streamwise we also managed to find time to do a Codafying about The Realm of Astral and it was another banger if we do say so ourselves. The Astral and last week the Focus Codafyings have been really good and we finally have them being turned into Youtubes. However we seem to have managed to lose the middle ones so we will be doing some additional restreams in which we will be going through a whole shebang of casting styles again. 

On Thursday we went again and did a really good stream about what inspires us to write events, we talk a lot about the various games that we have run and enjoyed throughout the year. Working with Mark Cordory is a wonderful experience and we are looking forward with great joy to the next one

Both Codafying and the Rising of Conversation will return this week.

The teams will be in and around Discord helping out those that need it with character building and game prep ahead of the weekend. If you need some of this wonderful assistance go and find them and they will see what they can do for you. 

The Chicanery calendar has taken shape and  there are more and more regular streamers  over on the Chicanery Facebook Page.

The streaming for the International Rescue Comittee with the Chicanery for Ukrainery continues and we appreciate all of the help that you have given them. This week the set up streams go along the following lines.

  • On Monday Morning we will be live with the Monday Morning Meeting from 8.45am BST
  • At around 7pm BST  on Monday, Holly is a go with Kids on Brooms
  • Tuesday evening has Sam gaming away with more classic funtimes
  • At 9 or so on Wednesday Morning, Stephen will be live to go through some more CODA magic based rules, in the next episode of CODAfying. 
  • Thursday we’ll be starting off with the wonderful Rising of Conversation podcast where Stephen and Mark will be discussing more stories from the over 40 years of larping experience they have between them
  • And to round out the streams for next week, Thursday night will have the usual Chicanery Gaming stream, with Trews and guests

Ok – So  that’s the week in a nutshell: It looks like the world may well be a hard place to be in at the moment so with that in mind we will be trying to keep the office manned as much as possible on Discord. If you need people, company, nonsense or an ear please feel free to come and find us.
