Hello Wonderfolk of the World,

Welcome one and all to the Sunday update which begins with us hoping that it finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you have had a fantastic week wherever you were and whatever you were doing. We are penning this from the exhausted heights of the “had a good weekend LARPing” mountain which we are going to tell you all about shortly, just after we get to say our usual thanks:

Today we raise our glass to our Patreons and Subs and toast their health and provision their greatness for the means that allow us to do the wonderful things that we do. Be that provide frontline service folk with free games and priority bookings, make available free counselling and therapy or just roll out the content and kit that we like to, we are eternally grateful.

So with fanfares trumpeting and drums rolling we shall move dynamically on to the rest of the weekly message!

The Monday Morning Meeting will roll out between 10 and 11am BST on Twitch as all Rising  team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. Feel free to chime in with questions and comments – That’s here on Monday Mornings. Have your say, ask questions and help us shape the future of what we are doing together.

Regardless: Each of our Rising sections are covered by our various organisers who you can contact and talk to via our Discord Server or just a straightforward e-mail.

This weekend has been a busy one for Calodemon again, we have seen the events from CODA roll out and they have treated the woods wonderfully again. More clearing areas was achieved by their crew and they left the place spick and span ahead of the work that was done by a team of tree surgeons and surveyors today!

As we suspected a whole load of Ash were suffering from Ash Dieback, which is a terrifying fungal infection that we had hoped against. However they had to go to save the ones that were still alright and go they did. There is still a bunch of trees to come out but we monolithed around the Beech Tree clearing and parachutes and the like were installed. Plus, our big Beech is healthy and doesn’t have to come down – something we were really worried about originally.

The Ghost Fence also grew and some of the trees around the amphitheatre were taken out which makes our space there much more useable. Our only sad for the weekend is that the toilets have been delayed by a few days at least. This means that we cannot confirm that our Early August event will be a one or two day event.

Nonetheless – The site is look even more radiant

The Kobolds of CODA had fallen into a deep slumber at the start of the week, hoping to get a few days of rest away from the plot mines of RoC. Alas, it was not to be; with Stephen’s big event around the corner they were soon put to work getting the Feat Sheets, Wound Cards and Backlash Cards completed ahead of the game and sorting through the characters’ Nestor bits and bobs! But what a totally worthwhile effort that was.

We had a massively top notch day out and about and Stephen properly outdid himself in the season finale. Which he would immediately tell us he could not do without the prop of his wonderful crew and team so we’ll kick off with a few words about the wonder of the peeps that run it before we sing the praises of the game to the rafters.

We’ll lead with the amazing and most excellent duo of Holly and Trews who often refer to themselves as the crime fighting partnership, Trolley and Hews. Last weekend they were onsight exploring and building new areas of our site and mapping out a plan for the Fae hollow that they would construct over the weekend. That was just the build up to the excellence that oozed out of our ref team

Linking up with the most excellent Jon the three of them set about rallying the troops and building the perfect crew room and indeed, Fae Hollow. The event was set up to be an enclosed event which represented a long abandoned glamour adjacent depth of the woodland; the home of two forgotten Fae houses and the peeps really made it look the business.

We could wax lyrical about the wonders of the DPC’s that they both portrayed, the make-up skills of Holly and the roleplaying chops of Trews but we should probably make some space for the other crew.

First – the mightiest of Mikes, who worked so unbelievably hard as a crewman until the very end (as well as sorting all the wound and backlash cards!) including being a menacing Unseelie Sidhe, and portraying Linus Redtail, a long dead hero, whose story is beginning to be of interest once again.

The wondrous Kayleigh, who not only menaced the players repeatedly, but was always on hand to dress areas (and take them down again), lift the heavy things, organise logistical things, and generally be wondrous. Plus, this time she remembered to bring food, which is always a bonus!

Next, to the magnificent Dave who threw himself into his second CoDA event with vigour! Not only did Dave build a webbed ossuary in the middle of the woods, he remembered a whole bunch of Seelie fae plot, added makeup to his fighty aberration, and offered his time and energy way past the end of the event.

Finally, Stephen, the most wondrous ref of reffing. Stephen wrote, directed and organised the entire event, entertained the players with his antis as the King of Cats and then terrified them five minutes later as Eyeslayer Haunt. We are forever grateful to Stephen for everything he’s brought to the table in RoC over the last 25 years, and for the amazing events he continues to write.

Big loves to all our incredible crew.

Jon’s next offering is coming through in the anticipated “One Better Day” on July 23rd and you can get your early doors bookings in now:

One Better Day Tickets!!

After the weekend, we would like to remind you of the following statement:

Stephen is no longer the system head: He is lead plot and facilitating the handover of the changes between the old game and the new one. If you are PM’ing him and relying on him for character updates and rules changes then know that he is just passing it up the chain and you will be better served by talking to the appropriate people. He WILL try to help you but he is mainly focussed on site development, story writing and other such activities.

Please use our email system to get in touch with the various teams for EDV and whatnot – or post in the appropriate Discord channel.

The CoDA team will be back this week with Codafying on Tuesday morning, featuring Stephen, Holly and Mike – this week, we’re talking all things Yuirfavalen!

LARPing Up That Hill is back on Thursday AM with System Head – Holly Goodall, the System Founder, LARPtronics founder, Site Owner etc etc – Stephen Canfield and of course, the Legendary Mark Cordory! He of the Mark Codory Creations, Mythlore, Tardis building and other endeavours, fame. Larping Up that Hill runs every Thursday from 10.30am BST for about an hour and features talks about all things larp.

That’s CoDA and it looks like a quieter online week this week on the Chicanery side, but make sure you keep checking in for updates on all things streaming, chicanery and shenanigans – be that via Discord or the website. More wild streams may pop right up!

Ok – So  that’s the week in a nutshell: It looks like the world may well be a hard place to be in at the moment so with that in mind we will be trying to keep the office manned as much as possible on Discord. If you need people, company, nonsense or an ear please feel free to come and find us. The teams will be in and around Discord helping out those that need and generally listening to froth. If you need some of this wonderful assistance go and find them and they will see what they can do for you.

You can find us easily enough:

Till the next time we talk: Have a Foxes and Crows week people, we look forward to seeing all of you somewhere in the world whether that be in the woods or on Discord.

Much Love

Take Care of Each Other

Team RoC
