Hello Wonderfolk of the World,

It’s a very warm Sunday which ushers us through the middle of July and sees us wishing to find you in fine form, fetlock and fettle. Despite the heat we all hope that you have had the best week that you could wherever you were and whatever you were doing and that you are staying hydrated and slathered in sunscreen! Before we get to the meat and drink of the message we will take a big breath to say the following.

Massive thanks to the Patreons, subs and sundries who spend their hard earned wealth allowing us to do things like providing priority bookings and free games for frontline service folk, counselling, therapy and a host of other projects that support the community as a whole. As ever, If you believe that you’re a person that could and should be benefiting from this let us know via the usual channels.

With all that said we will move into our slightly shorter message; it’s been an overly warm week and much has been done but a lot of our projects are in transition so….

The Monday Morning Meeting will roll out between 10 and 11am BST on Twitch as all Rising  team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. Feel free to chime in with questions and comments – That’s here on Monday Mornings. Have your say, ask questions and help us shape the future of what we are doing together.

Regardless: Each of our Rising sections are covered by our various organisers who you can contact and talk to via our Discord Server or just a straightforward e-mail.

It’s warm in the woods but the toilets are in and sorted and that took a lot of finagling; beyond that the woods remain the woods but that one amazing factor has informed the rest of what we will be doing with CODA.

So without further ado…

The kobolds were weary this week and achieved less than they have done in other weeks, alongside the exciting heatwave and extremely busy 8 weeks, it has been draining. This week they progressed a number of tasks, keeping stuff ticking over and specifically dealing with some tricky issues around Feat Sheets which you can read all about over on the CODA channels of the Discord.

However the toilets going onto site has meant a big change in how we run and do things, specifically in the coming few weeks. Effectively it means that we can now offer overnight stays and full events as we complete the transition of phase one back into proper gaming over several days. To that end and after a long discussion, we have come to the following decisions and we’ll also explain that process.

Firstly we are pushing back the next day event, not cancelling, just pushing it back and all of you who have purchased tickets have been contacted regarding holdovers or refunds. We did this for the following reasons:

  • So that we could organised a proper 2-3 day event in the woods with camping provision
  • To do this we would need time which we can only get if we aren’t focussed on the day events that we have been
  • We would like to run a bigger event, possibly a Tharinos, before we run out of summer which means that we need that time now.
  • We have done a LOT in the last three months to get us where we are and honestly we are quite pooped and an extra couple of weeks to sort out the two dayer feels reasonable.

In the Monday Morning Meeting this week we will be discussing the dates, plans and approach for the first of our overnights at the site and when we will be rescheduling Jon’s event for. We will let you know as soon as we do or you can just tune in and join us!

Beyond that we did an excellent Codafying Stream on Tuesday morning regarding the Yuirfarvallen and their role in the world. The CoDA team will be back this week with Codafying on Tuesday morning, featuring Stephen, Holly and Mike – this week, we’re talking all things Lairdan Gan! 

LARPing Up That Hill is back on Thursday AM with System Head – Holly Goodall, the System Founder, LARPtronics founder, Site Owner etc etc – Stephen Canfield and of course, the Legendary Mark Cordory! He of the Mark Cordory Creations, Mythlore, Tardis building and other endeavours, fame. Larping Up that Hill runs every Thursday from 10.30am BST for about an hour and features talks about all things larp.

It looks like a quieter online week this week, but make sure you keep checking in for updates on all things streaming, chicanery and shenanigans – be that via Discord or the website. 

Ok – So  that’s the week in a nutshell: It looks like the world may well be a hard place to be in at the moment so with that in mind we will be trying to keep the office manned as much as possible on Discord. If you need people, company, nonsense or an ear please feel free to come and find us. The teams will be in and around Discord helping out those that need and generally listening to froth.
