Good Morning Wonderfolk of the World,

By the end of the week it will be the last days of April and here at the Rising of Chaos we are finally kicking off the Twenty Fifth anniversary in style. More on that shortly but before we get there we hope, as ever we do, that this message finds you in fine form, fetlock and fettle and that you had an excellent week wherever you were and whatever you were doing. Especially to our Patreons and our subsribers over on Twitch who have been keeping us running through the long dark.

Before we get into the big message excitement we would like to point to the fact that the frontline emergency services remain as ever in our thoughts as do so many others and one day we hope to extend this offer to the likes of teachers and other worthies! We continue to offer free games and priority bookings to our upcoming games – just prod us via e-mails for details and we’ll sort you out.

The Counselling also continues to go well, we have the new folks in the next phase of the program and we are now just waiting to fill up the list for the next cycle. If you think that you would benefit from counselling then please get in contact and we will throw your name in there and get you started in the process.

The two main wings of the Rising continue to develop and both the Chaos and the Chicanery side of things have continued to work away in the background getting things done and keeping things ticking over. The keen is beyond high for what is, effectively, the beginning of the 25th year anniversary of CODA and we can’t believe how quickly the tickets have sold out for the Relics Part I.

Whilst this message covers the basics we will be on and chatting on Monday Morning between 8.45 and 10am on Twitch as team members meet up to discuss the plans of the week, the month and generally natter. They will even talk to you too if you ask them questions – That’s here on Monday Mornings. Have your say, ask questions and help us shape the future of what we are doing together.

Regardless: Each of our Rising sections are covered by our various organisers who you can contact and talk to via our Discord Server or just a straightforward e-mail.

Calodemon Woods!

Sadly we had to cancel our build in the woods weekend this week just gone by due to the Tree Surgeons having to pull out. We just didn’t see advantage to having to book two days to do it. However we have good news in that the meeting with the rest of the folks that own the woods went well! We now have an agreement to begin fixing the road in asap. We should also have access across the field next to the site that will also give us a much simpler way to walk onto the site.

Big and exciting news for the weeks to come: Not only have we been updating the basics of the website but the fluff is also being shaken up and posted on to the wiki. We will definitely have more of that as the weeks roll on and the peeps involved in writing are full of keen and ingenuity. Honestly it has been a joy to read and feel the beauty of the system growing, if you haven’t started on the fluff yet: Do!

But that’s not all! Holly has not spared the rod and despite the office Gnolls lack of sleep she has got them in full writing and prep mode for the games ahead: The event on the 30th of April: Relics – Winter is its Bones – Has SOLD OUT – If you are on the agreed list of pay us on Pay Day people then you are safe but we cannot take any more player bookings for the event.

We also have the minimum required crew to run the game and a little bit more but we have a few more spaces left for the day event in the woods. All three blurbs can be found on either the Discord channel in “#Game-Prep” or you can find it on the Facebook event page. The event prep has been phenomenal, the player prep for version 12 likewise – Just a week to go and the Twenty Fifth anniversary can begin proper.

As if that wasn’t enough, event two is being announced as the second part of the Relics story arc on the 14th of May along with a standalone event on the 28th! Part Two of Relics, The Lost One, is up on Eventbrite with tickets going live at 5pm BST on April 24th (that’s today!)

We are also excited to unveil a weekender at the Fae Court, at a very different site, on the weekend of the 12th June. Teasers, Tickets and Tantalising Thrills will all appear in the next few days but keep these dates free, we promise you won’t be disappointed. 

This week the System Head decided to be merciful but then quickly changed her mind so you can find another episode of Codafying, this time dealing with Source Magic and another Rising of Conversation with Mark Cordory in the following two places:

Despite grovelling from her minions she is ensuring that everyone goes again so you can expect to see Stephen talking about the Lore of Focus Magics on Wednesday morning from around 9am BST and Stephen AND Mark talking all old stories LARP from 10.30 BST on Thursday morning. All of this is usually worth a watch!

The teams will be in and around Discord this week helping out those that need it with character building and game prep ahead of the weekend. If you need some of this wonderful assistance go and find them and they will see what they can do for you.

The Chicanery calendar has taken shape and  there are more and more regular streamers  over on the Chicanery Facebook Page.

The streaming for the International Rescue Committee with the Chicanery for Ukrainery continues and we appreciate all of the help that you have given them. This week the set up streams go along the following lines.

  • At around 7pm on Monday, Kit’ll be running his long awaited next session of Monster Hearts!
  • Tuesday will see the return of Jumpy Gron’s retro games with some Star Wars Renegades in the early afternoon
  • While in the evening Sam will be playing some more  Shenmue ridiculousness
  • At 9 or so on Wednesday Morning, Stephen will be live to go through some more CODA magic based rules, in the next episode of CODAfying. Especially important to tune in if you’re attending the CODA event next weekend!
  • Thursday we’ll be starting off with the wonderful Rising of Conversation podcast where Stephen and Mark will be discussing more stories from the over 40 years of larping experience they have between them.
  • And to round out the streams for next week, Thursday night will have the usual Chicanery Gaming stream, with Trews and guests

Ok – So  that’s the week in a nutshell: It looks like the world may well be a hard place to be in at the moment so with that in mind we will be trying to keep the office manned as much as possible on Discord. If you need people, company, nonsense or an ear please feel free to come and find us.
