As a Priest or Holy Warrior progresses through the Church, they come to appreciate the responsibilities that fall so squarely upon their shoulders: The day to day lives of their flocks with the problems that stem from family, trade, justice and injustice, aging, death, birth, love, and hate. The demands of the Clergy and Church councils to maintain the status quo between the faiths and to ensure that their Church is well represented among the other powers.

Evils rise that need to be fought and guildsmen call upon the faithful time and time again for their assistance in miracle and deed of arms. Those that can transcend these burdens and continue on their way are exemplars of their faith, however in a society that provides the world with so many followers of said faith exemplars tend to be ten a blade in many ways.

In order to further hone the talents, belief and grace the Clergy gathered to form an order of people to represent the causes of their religions, originally totalling no more than a hundred from each all faiths and called the Harmony of Champions. Through the years since its creation the Champions have grown into a fully blown order where the ways of each Deity is carefully observed.

“The Churches traditions are ancient, their ways are entrenched with dogma, religious fervour and behaviour that only the blanket protection of the clergy allows the Priest to get away with it. The Faith operates through the respect that is owed due to the various long and winded deeds that they have done to keep the smallfolk in their pockets and fuel their piety with lies and bitterness to keep them praying and their Gods strong. I have hated Priests for a long time, their deceit and their pretence at belief led me to my actions and, by long acquaintance with one who has altered my perceptions. A Champion of Torment is one in whom the power of the Mistress is nestled like a corrupted little seed, there from the moment of birth and awaiting her call to grow to maturity. Inside them her gifts continue week by week, day by day and hour by hour to do their work, burning away at them causing them to lose hope, to feel the pain of her gifts and to let her being burn in this world for all to see. In return they are blessed by her ways and her rights, strengthened by the pain and the torment and with all that strength and faith they are more than capable of extracting that which no Priest ever could”
